I am often attracted to landscapes with latent histories. Recent work focused on natural and manmade disasters including bushfires and algal bloom , the Queensland floods in Charleville (2009) and the tsunami that hit the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant (2011).
Penny Coss has participated in institutional group exhibitions nationally and internationally including Folding, Itami Art Museum, Osaka, Tokyo, (2003) Flora, University of WA (2018) all matter has a past, The Verge Gallery, University of Sydney (2017) Epic Narratives, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (2015) and Yellow Vest Syndrome Fremantle Arts Centre. (2010). Collections include Itami Art Museum, Japan, University of Western Australia, Geraldton Regional Art Gallery WA, Macquarie Collection, Cruthers Collection of Womens Art, Wesfarmers and The Kerry Stokes Collection. Coss is a finalist for The Dobell Drawing Prize #21 (2019) and was commissioned by Perth International Airport to produce two large scale 2D glazed artworks (2016).
