Glib Franko was born in 1985 into a family of artists in Ukraine. His father is a watercolour painter whereas his mother works with textiles. In 2000, he entered the Kosiv College of Decorative Arts and in 2005, he attended the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. From 2012 to 2014 he stay lecturer of the National Academy of Art and Architecture. Painting is the main genre of Franko’s creativity as it brings him some aesthetic pleasure. He likes to test out different colours and textures and shapes, improvise and enjoys this process. His work is fragmentary and experimental giving him the freedom to paint what he wants with no boundaries or limitations. Franko is an artist who is very comfortable in painting space, his work exudes with colour and free space, without intertwined objects of symbolism, allowing the viewer to notice the smallest picturesque improvisations. In Glib’s work, subjectivity is placed at the centre of his work and adds a mysterious, ambiguous layer to his art. Glib Franko has been solidifying his artistic recognition in his home country, taking part in numerous exhibitions such as ARTLEVEL design festival and the Open Art Fair at the Contemporary Art Center. He is seeking to expand his international reach which he is well on his way to achieving.
